Shaolin Temple introduction
Shaolin Temple, located in Songshan Mountain in Dengfeng, China, is the birthplace of Shaolin martial arts. It is named "Shaolin Temple" because it is located in the dense jungle of Shaoshi Mountain in the heart of Songshan Mountain. The Shaolin Temple was famous during the Tang Dynasty for its Zen and martial arts. During the Republic of China, it was almost burned down by warlord Shi Yousan. The current abbot of Shaolin Temple is Shi Yongxin. Now Songshan Shaolin Temple scenic spot is a national 5A-level tourist scenic spot, UNESCO has listed 8 historical buildings including Shaolin Temple as World cultural Heritage.
